The Potato Man sculpture in Sioux Falls is a tribute to the Irish immigrants who came to America to escape the potato famine in Ireland. The life-sized bronze statue was created by New York artist Susan Giessler and was part of the 2006 Sioux Falls Sculpture Walk. It was donated to the city by several Irish residents and installed in the SW corner of McKennan Park in 2008 to celebrate the park's centennial. The sculpture pays homage to the large Irish population in Sioux Falls, with the bricks around it displaying family names of those who purchased the sculpture. The Potato Man symbolizes the sacrifices made by Irish immigrants for a better life and is a significant part of Sioux Falls' cultural heritage.

In Sioux Falls, during winter, community members often contribute to the Potato Man by donating scarves, warm gear, and winter clothing. Organizations like the St. Francis House and Presentation Sisters actively collect and distribute these items to those in need, ensuring everyone stays warm during the cold months. The Bishop Dudley Hospitality House also accepts donations of winter clothing, highlighting the community's commitment to helping those who are homeless or vulnerable during the winter season.
